Day 3
I'll pick up on last night's lines. At the stroke of midnight the night of departures and arrivals began. Ivana was the first to go out into the black, but weather merciful darkness. She did her best at the log cabin, ate, slept, ate slept, and rode. No big cavies around.
One bridge is still missing in the Maršov Valley after the autumn floods. And so those who go further have the choice to either cool their feet in the ford or go around by road. Surprisingly, nobody has chosen the ford yet.
As soon as Ivana left the cabin in Maršov, Daniela arrived. We were a bit worried about her, because 10 km before the finish she wrote that she was KO and that she had to rest. Daniela is never a KO, she is always just stitched up, and that was a concern for us. So we were happy to see her. And we'd like to see everything that she saw. She's gone so deep that she's had an interesting night. Quality hallucinations where she felt like someone was always walking behind her, shining a headlamp. Elephants and faces and scenes like that, there were countless of them.
Before 2:00 a.m., Takao took off into the middle of the night. He doesn't talk much, and we're wondering what he thinks of all this. Such a culture shock must be a great bonus experience. And what about when he sees Havířov, the region of razovita. Two hours was quiet and room for everyone to sleep. Then Toman Stávek opened the door, followed by Martin Gabla. He had a dilemma when arriving at the cabin, whether to go straight away, but it was hard to resist the bed and he chose well, nothing would escape him.
Gustav Subklew arrived from Germany as lunch was coming. He had an interesting approach. He had already calculated his progress a month in advance and booked accommodation for both nights. But he was quicker than he thought. However, he handled the situation just fine, he just stayed where he was supposed to be. He arrived at his destination in perfect order, smiling and looking like he had come from a trip. Third skier overall.
Lukáš Rabas from Jablonec was right behind Gustav. For him it was the first challenge of this type in his life and he handled it brilliantly. He patiently bit off, overcame his fears and finally reached the finish line as the fourth skier. And just like Gustav, he did it with a smile and a cool attitude. He hadn't even warmed up before he was on the train home to his family.
In order to keep things going, Martin Šilhán arrived a little while after Lukáš. For him it was just a warm-up lap and a quarter of the cake that awaits him. He looked fresh, freshened up and was soon on the road again.
Then there was a strange moment when we were orphaned at the cabin with Hosta. Unfortunately, our team was hit by sickness and Dad had to leave the cabin. Fortunately, the biggest storm was over, and the two of us would make it. Although, now Tomas Kadlec, who just wants to be home with his kids and wife, has thrown a pitchfork into the mix. He's going perhaps a day faster than last year and we certainly didn't count on that, so either a car seat or the first open pub awaits him at the finish (if I can make it there). But luckily Tomas is the last person who would mind. Punk is not dead.
In the evening Tomas Brabec had shots and a cigar in front of the log cabin. His mother called to him that he shouldn't go inside the cabin, that it would be hot there and it wouldn't do him any good. And because mothers are supposed to be obeyed, he sat outside the log cabin for an hour and a half and didn't go inside. He was looking forward to going out into the night to make a fire somewhere and get comfortable.
Luboš Kocourek and Jirka Havlíček arrived together shortly after Tomas. Luboš has it as an intermediate station for 300 km and compared to last year he looked in fresh condition and is looking forward to continue. Jirka has been battling a knee injury and periocular inflammation for a long time. The guys have been beating him up along the way with all sorts of motivation to make it this far. Jirka is a tough guy and he bit all the pain and got here. We'll see how his condition is in the morning.
And tonight, it's almost midnight, Honza and Denisa Mečiar closed the evening. They are going their own way, too, when they meet a pub so it is necessary to try what one can experience there. So they didn't hesitate and even a kilometer before the log cabin they went for a beer and drowning. However, Honza's Achilles is no longer willing to be flexible and functional, so he has to stop here. Denisa is also fed up, but since there are no sharpeners, she is going to get up at three in the morning and go to the Eagle Mountains. Where it's finally skiing again, and where it's going to be fun. As evidenced by watching the rectangle on the screen.
Batman and the Three on the Road team will arrive soon, but more on that tomorrow.....Good luck to those who have the opportunity
