Day 4

The night from Sunday to Monday was a big logistical nut and stress for us. Due to injuries and illnesses we lost one helper and two cars. The starting field was stretched out like a writhing snake. We waited in Maršov for the arrival Bat and Team Three on the road and they were scared if Tomas Kadlec keeps up the pace and doesn't bivouac, we have no chance of being on time. So I called Tomas and told him what he could expect at the finish if he continued like this.

While figuring out how to teleport to Jeseniky, he arrived at his destination twenty minutes before one in the morning. Petr Havelka aka Bat. He was walking sensibly and had planned well to get to Jeseníky, but the long walking sections with ski equipment were killing him until his cervical spine finally destroyed him. He fought, but he couldn't go on. When he sat down to the soup, he couldn't even turn around. But he can, and we hope he's happy because we keep saying over and over again - it's not about the miles, it's about the experience. He arrived at 2:00 a.m. Team Three on the road consisting of Jitka Vašková, Marie Kunstátová and Honza Žofka. They showed great performance and team spirit, not only motivating each other but also shitting on each other. Satisfaction was great and well deserved. With their arrival, we officially closed the 150km finish.

At 3:00 a.m., she set out on her next adventure Denisa Mečiarová and the wolf feared nothing, and, though tired, went on into the darkness. When I saw.., Jirku as he came down the stairs, it was clear to me that his injuries could not continue. Jirka had sacrificed a lot in preparation, so you could see how sorry he was. But this is just a process and everything happens for a reason. Next time it will work out.

Meanwhile, Tomas took pity and bivouacked a little below Kralický Sněžník. This gave us three hours of sleep and we could quickly pack everything in a panic and go to the race in the morning to see who would be there first. We won by about half an hour and got a lot of rest. So Tomáš Kadlec became the winner of the 300 km route in an incredible time of 3 days and 46 minutes, which is 24.5 hours faster than last year.

The truth is that last year's conditions are incomparable. This year, it's often for a price. For example, today - no wind, sun and views from the ridges, whether Orlické or Jeseníky. And nights, like today again. Not a scary fairy tale (from our point of view), but clear starry sky, Turkish moon, silence, but also already solidly cold -10 C. Martin Gabla, who is already slowly, or rather quite quickly approaching Petříkov at 300 km, wrote that he does not want to leave those magical night ridges at all. We don't blame him. These are rare moments.

But back in the day. Tomas had a beer with us and went straight to the train back home. A Ivana was already rushing over the Jeseniky ridges like a wild woman. She left Maršov at twelve in the evening and took a night march, which is always a demanding affair. She flew over the Orlické Mountains, and then she bivouacked over Mladkov. When darkness fell in the Jeseníky Mountains she arrived at the check point, where she was going to have a good rest and then hurry on in the same sovereign style.

A little behind Ivana, he was pedalling at machine pace Toman Stávek. He also bivouacked on the way. Fate threw a closing bus stop in his way, which is always nice. Unfortunately, for a few days now he has been plagued by a painful shin that looks like a fatigue fracture, so he wisely decided that 300 km would be enough this year. And we applaud him for a beautiful performance done with humility.

Tomas Brabec ...he'd have a fire on the way in the evening and take it easy. For this he was apparently punished by a crisis on the long asphalt stretch to Olešnice. Denisa had been stealing kilometres since early morning and made it all the way to Olesnica where she took shelter in a guesthouse for the night. Which in today's low temperatures is a good option. She also hid under the roof Danielawhich has the Orlické Mountains behind it. The message from her was already more positive than last time. It's stitched, so it's fine. The second part of the Orlické Mountains to the Earth Gate is quite icy and so it is challenging.

Lubos Kocourek he made it to the Eagle Mountains and his report on the state of his body and mind included the information that from today onwards he considered the word asphalt to be vulgar. According to the tracking, we think that he has found some nice accommodation slightly off the trail and will spend the night there today to forget about asphalt.

Martin Šilhán doing his homeless classic. If he's not into it. With his own and very well made bobsled, model Ultrapicus V.3.0, he crossed the first part of the Orlické Mountains and now he occupies Hanička (bus stop) and under his jacket he tries to warm up a can of beer to a drinkable temperature.

Well, the last one in the report is Takao. I probably shouldn't write this, but he just got the nickname Kakao here, which was given to him by Aunt Vera. As I wrote yesterday, the language barrier causes our lack of information about his condition and experiences. He doesn't send us messages, so we just see what you do - he is bivouacking on the way to Kralický Sněžník and we know from other participants that he is a bit tired, but his Japanese spirit is unbreakable and with his kind smile he will overcome the insurmountable.

And that's all from today's report. Keep cheering and watching
