DAY 5

Today's summary of the events of the fifth day will probably be a bit brief. No doubt there was a lot going on, but our ears and eyes cannot cover such a vast starting field to hear the interesting stuff from everyone. The difference between the back and the front is already 150km. So we are watching the CP in Petříkov and today we met in person only with Takaem.

But back to last night. While Ivana was regaining her strength through sleep, a little before 2 a.m. he arrived at the finish Martin Gabla. He was tired, but excited. The road from Kralický Sněžník is mentally treacherous. On the map it seems like it's not far to the finish line, but oh well. It's still about 30 kilometers and will take 6 hours at a steady slow pace. So even Martin was glad he didn't have to go anywhere at this time. He became the second skier (often a walker with skis on his backpack), who completed the 300 km route this year. And because he was thrilled with what he had experienced and had an extra day of vacation, he rested overnight and in the morning set out to roam the trail to conquer the entire Jeseníky Mountains.

When Martin was about to go to bed, Ivana was about to face the dark night. It was three o'clock in the morning and it was not hot, quite the contrary. But Ivana was not afraid of wolves (if she was afraid of anything at all) and she was not messing with anything. So she just set off and went, went, went. And that she would stop? No way, forget it. He who stops goes nowhere, and Ivana goes to the finish line. After 18 hours of marching, she stopped for a soft beer and now she's whizzing through the dark again, hopefully slowly finding a suitable place to bivouac. Otherwise I will believe the theory that alien life forms live among us here on Earth.

Takao he applied his Japanese diligence and patience and all night long he slid down the ridge of Kralický Sněžník. He arrived at CP shortly after noon. And guess.... was he smiling or frowning? Right, he was laughing. I had to download a voice translator to my phone so we could chat over lunch. Well, I didn't learn much I could rattle off. He's doing okay, his foot's a little sore, but no problem. I asked if he had any bad experiences or culture shock. So he said he had culture shock. He said he didn't expect ice on the roads here in the Czech Republic. We have a feeling he doesn't eat much of what we offer him just to be safe, but today we made him happy when we went to an Asian bistro and brought him noodles. He slept the rest of the day and we waved him off before 10pm for his next night walk.

Daniela Havránková after crossing the Orlické Mountains, she laid her head down in a tourist hostel in Čihák to gain strength for Kraličák. On the way she learned a great thing. She had cracked her back ribs and she solved it by straining her knee significantly and overcoming the pain. Thanks to the beautiful weather today, it was a treat, so she also enjoyed the view from Sněžník, even though climbing it is hard as hell. She put her head down on the Hilltop for tonight and tomorrow it will be a reward.

Martin Šilhán He left Hanicka and at his steady pace, went off to hunt more unicorns. But don't worry, that's just our JIBE lingo and we won't dig into it any further. Martin likes to play the homeless man without a roof, but from the tracking it looks like he responded to a message from Daniela that they still have a bed available on the hill, so he might head over there. Or is he going through to CP? Well, by the time you read this, it'll be obvious. But considering he's got another 300 km to go, I guess there's no rush.

Tomáš Brabec and Luboš Kocourek keeping each other company, give or take. I mean, they moved in a small perimeter behind each other and maybe sometimes they met and gave a speech. That always goes well when you know that a little ahead or behind is someone who is experiencing the same sorrows and joys as you. I suspect he has some acquaintances in Mladkov, or is bold enough to knock on the door. where he is now sleeping. The same with Tomas Brabec. He has marched to Kraliki and found refuge there for tonight. EDIT: Moving on.. Both of them will have a long day tomorrow, because on Thursday at 9 am the race limit ends and the Royal Sneznik does not give his skin for free. But the weather is supposed to be great.

Unfortunately, we received a message from Denisa Mečiarováthat the condition of her achilles is no longer compatible with movement. She crossed the whole Orlice region and made it all the way to Petrovice. There she had to end her journey. Denisa showed a very tenacious performance and was not afraid of the wolf. Her performance perfectly fulfilled the meaning of the word adventure.

Well, that wasn't so harsh. See you tomorrow.
